In
the Tushar Mountains near Beaver, shuttles at Elk Meadows
allow bikers to explore the resort's vast terrain.
The
scenic sprawl of southwestern Utah provides some of the
state's most rewarding rides. On a popular 23-mile stretch
of state hwy 14, the road winds through pine and aspen
forests to the red rock amphitheaters of Cedar Breaks
National Monument.
Brian
Head is a year-round resort with lifts that access several
mountain trails. A shuttle service takes cyclists to other
trail areas on the resort property.
Road
cycling is a wonderful way to see Zion National Park.
The three-and-a-half mile Pa'rus Trail is a paved ride
winding along the Virgin River in Zion Canyon. Guided
bike tours are offered both in the park and on BLM land
south of the park. Electric bikes, tandem bikes, mountain
bikes, children's bikes, and helmets for all ages, can
be rented in Springdale just south of Zion Canyon.
Bicyclists
may also be used on the paved, scenic roads in Bryce Canyon
National Park.
For
red rock biking enthusiasts, Capitol Reef National Park,
the Burr Trail, and The Maze District of Canyonlands National
Park are popular. Some areas require advanced planning,
and may be more enjoyable with a guide. For rides near
Capitol Reef, bike tours and rentals are available in
Torrey.
