Bear
Lake. Utah's
second largest natural freshwater lake, Bear Lake,
offers sailing, water skiing, jet skiing and speed-boating.
Shared equally by Utah and Idaho, Bear Lake is 20
miles long and 8 miles wide. Sailboat regattas and
jet ski races are held regularly in the summer, 435-946-3343
Cache
County. Cutler Reservoir in central
Cache County has some of the Intermountain West's
best still-water canoeing and kayaking.
Hyrum
State Park offers boating, fishing, camping and
swimming on a 450-acre lake.
Wasatch
Mountains. Pineview Reservoir in
Ogden Valley, east of Ogden via state hwy 39, and
Mantua Reservoir on US 89 are area favorites
for water skiing.
Causey
Reservoir, east of Ogden, is an excellent canoeing
site.
East
Canyon Reservoir southeast of Morgan has boat
rentals and camping at East Canyon State Park.
Jordanelle
Reservoir, between Park City and Heber is Utah's
newest boating location with primitive and full-service
campgrounds, 435-649-9540
Boating,
sailing and windsurfing are popular on Deer Creek
Reservoir at the top of Provo Canyon in Heber
Valley.
Rockport
Reservoir, south of Wanship off I-80, and Strawberry
Reservoir 30 miles east of Heber via state hwy 40
also attract many boaters.
Willard
Bay. From April to October, many Utahns
head for summer recreation on Willard Bay,
a freshwater impoundment adjacent to the Great Salt
Lake., The North Marina (exit 360 on I-15)
and the South Marina (exit 354) have boat launching,

Great
Salt Lake . Sailboating
is popular on the Great Salt Lake (depending
on weather conditions). Motorboats are also allowed.
There is a marina on the south shore of the lake at
Great Salt Lake State Park, access is via I-80
exit 104; and at Antelope Island State Park,
I-15 exit 335 near Layton.
Jordan
River. The Jordan River State Parkway
runs adjacent to Redwood Rd. on the west side of Salt
Lake City from North Temple St. to 2200 North and
the Davis County Line. This 4.8 mile stretch of the
Jordan River is popular for canoeing.
Snorkeling
and Scuba Diving. The Bonneville Sea
Base is one of few places in Utah to go snorkeling
and scuba diving. The naturally heated saltwater ponds
are home to thousands of tropical fish. Located on
state hwy 138, five miles west of Grantsville, 435-884-3874.
Utah
Lake State Park, west of Provo, is a perennial
favorite for boating and water-skiing, 435-375-0733.
