Eastern
Utah
- 1,607,602 acres
This
district is not only
dinosaur country,
it is a recreational
smorgasbord. Dry Fork
Canyon displays outstanding
rock art in beautiful
stone canyons. Butch
Cassidy and the Sundance
Kid visited the John
Jarvie Ranch in Brown's
Park, which still
retains many of its
century-old buildings.
Fantasy Canyon provides
a 60-acre rock trail
tour of some of the
most unique and delicate
sandstone features
in the world. A map
of this remote canyon
is available through
the district office.
The
Vernal Field Office
is located in the
northeast corner of
Utah--a rough and
rugged slice of the
Old West where Butch
Cassidy and his Hole-in-the-Wall
Gang felt right at
home, hiding out among
the hoodoos and gulches.
Here lie landscapes
of extremes from the
fir-covered vistas
of the Book Cliffs
in the south, to the
stark lowlands of
Uintah Basin sweeping
north. Reaching further
east is Flaming Gorge
country, where one
can see the fossilized
history of dinosaurs
that roamed this area
many years ago. Contact

The
Price Field Office
is located in the
mid section of Utah-the
gateway to the red
rock country of the
San Rafael Swell.
The swells have been
described as the jagged
remains of a dinosaur
backbone, a sandstone
coral reef, and a
stone saw blade. Traveling
east, you'll find
the Green River, a
premiere river trip
in Utah's deepest
Canyon just west of
the Green River is
a major representative
area of the prehistoric
Fremont Culture where
one can see panels
of rock art. Contact
