Koosharem (Sevier County) is in Grass Valley on U-62, five miles north of Greenwich. The settlement was originally settled in 1877. The name is an Indian word referring to red clover or an edible tuber growing in the valley. The tuber has served as a food staple for the Indians. (John W. Van Cott)
