Mesquite
was named after the mesquite tree, which Native Americans
considered to be good luck. Native Americans would burn
mesquite wood like incense to bring friendly spirits.
The
Mormon pioneers settled Bunkerville which was later renamed
Mesquite. Mesquite is now the fastest growing city in
Nevada. It is located on I-15 in southeastern Nevada on
the Arizona border, and is just 37 miles from St. George,
Utah.
