Utah Travel Center Cities Washington • History

Washington (Washington County) is on I-15, six miles east of St. George. The community was founded in 1857, several years before St. George was settled. It was noted for the local factory that made cotton cloth from home-grown cotton. The settlement was named to honor George Washington, the first President of the United States. (John W. Van Cott)
