Wahweap Creek (Garfield County, Kane County) originates on the southern slopes of Canaan Peak on the Kaiparowits Plateau and drains south southeast into Lake Powell. It had an early name of Sentinel Rock Creek because a sandstone tower stood at the mouth of the creek. Wahweap is an Piute Indian reference to alkaline seeps containing stagnant or brackish seeps.
