Goblin Valley (Emery County) is in the upper reaches of
the Red Canyon drainage, fifteen miles north of Hanksville.
It is a geologically unique area with unusual highly eroded,
goblin-like shapes from which the area receives its name.
It is also whimsically known as Hoodoo Valley or Golly
Gully.
The
view is especially dramatic in moonlight or when the sun
is low. At this time, the mushroom-shaped figures appear
huddled or in praying groups.
