Sundance

Renowned actor Robert Redford created Sundance in 1969, envisioning a community where the arts, environment and recreation would flourish. Located on the slopes of 12,000-foot Mount Timpanogos, there is a variety of terrain for all skiers, from great bowl skiing to long, groomed runs. Sundance is located 51 miles from Salt Lake.

Location: Sundance is located 1 hour southeast of Salt Lake International Airport. When exiting the airport turn on I-80 East towards Provo. Transfer I-80 East to I-215 South and then to I-15. Continue on I-15 to Orem. Exit freeway at exit #275 (800 North). Travel East on 8th North until you come to the mouth of Provo Canyon. Using the left lane, take Highway 189 north towards Heber City, for approximately 7 miles. Turn left at the Sundance turn off and continue for 2 miles up the North Fork Canyon to Sundance.

Season: Sundance mountain winter recreation opens early December and closes in April.

Hours of Operation: 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Group Rates area available for 20 or more

Elevation & Vertical Drop: Base elevation 6,100 feet, top elevation 8,250 feet, vertical drop 2,150 feet.

Average Annual Snowfall: 320″average

Runs: There are 41 runs over 450 areas of varied terrain.

Lifts: Ray’s Lift – vertical rise 1,325 feet, Flathead Triple – vertical rise 1,115 feet, Arrowhead Triple – vertical rise 1,282 feet.

Child Care: Limited care is available through the Sundance Ski School.

Lessons: Lessons are available in hour increments beginning at 9:00 am, 11:00 am and 1:00 PM. General, private, children’s and group ski instruction are all available by calling the Sundance Ski School at 801-223-4140.
